PRESET TIPS

By Layla Nase

Congratulations on purchasing your favorite Lightroom presets! You're super excited to try them out, but after applying a preset, it might not look exactly how you imagined. Don’t worry, this is perfectly normal!

Presets are designed to transform your photos with just one click, but sometimes they may appear slightly different depending on factors like lighting conditions, camera settings, or image quality. These differences are easy to fine-tune, and with a few adjustments, you can achieve your desired look.

Here’s a quick guide to help you customize your Lightroom presets like a pro!

HOW DO I MAKE  A PICTURE BRIGHTER OR DARKER?

  • Go to “Light” and adjust the “Exposure” slider.
  • Slide it to the right to make your picture brighter or to the left to make it darker.

HOW DO I MAKE  A PICTURE MORE COLORFUL OR LESS COLORFUL?

  • Go to “Color” and adjust the “Saturation” slider.
  • Slide it to the right to make your picture more colorful or to the left to tone it down.

HOW DO I REMOVE ORANGE TONES FROM MY PICTURE OR FIX ORANGE SKIN TONES?

  • Go to “Color” and select “Mix.”
  • Choose the orange color, then adjust the “Saturation” slider.
  • Slide it to the left to reduce orange tones, but don’t overdo it to avoid a grayish look to the skin.

HOW DO I REDUCE OR ADJUST SPECIFIC COLORS IN A PICTURE?

  • Go to “Color” and select “Mix.”
  • Choose the specific color you want to adjust, then use the “Saturation” slider to fine-tune it.
  • Slide it to the left to reduce the color or to the right to enhance it.

HOW DO I SHARPEN MY PICTURE?

  • Go to “Detail” and adjust the “Sharpening” slider.
  • Slide it to the right to enhance sharpness or to the left for a softer look.
